How does the ‘cap/gas shell ejecting’ system work on Airsoft guns?

I’ve seen a few videos on the tube about these new airsoft guns that can expel shells using gas, and some of them use caps that propel the BB. I was wondering if anyone knew exactly how they worked or have a schematic or something.

Those types of airsoft guns have been around for a good few years now, and can be great for showing off :) . Though I’ve never fired one for myself, I have a general idea of how they work. Take an M4A1 model, for instance. First you load the BB in the front end of the shell, then load the shells into the M4 magazine, which holds 30 shells in total, just like the real thing. Not sure where the gas goes though, sorry, but it would most likely either be in the magazine or in each individual shell. Anyways, when you fire, the ejection port opens, ejecting the shell, and firing the BB out the barrel. Pretty cool, but only good for show, as I doubt you want to be picking up your shells after each airsoft match. Not sure where you could get one, as they are very hard to find and rather expensive, but I’m sure with enough Google searching you could come up with something :P . Hope I helped!
