Minecraft coding help please?

I was wondering if anyone experienced with minecraft and coding can help me with this one… So recently I have been experimenting with minecraft and 3d models and importing them. Basically for anyone who knows about this, I use binvox and viewvox to view different .obj files, but unfortunately using this method I have to put in each layer of the model one by one to actually see it in my world. In the case of the guy who made the starship enterprise in minecraft, he was able to take the .obj files and convert it into a schematic for minecraft. Does anyone have any idea how he was able to do this? It would really save me a lot of time putting models into minecraft, thank you!
