Help read the schematic for a dual coil latching relay?

on a schematic of a dual coil latching relay, which coil opens the switch and which closes it? (On the schematic, one coil is represented by a black rectangle and the other is a white rectangle.)

The ones I’ve seen have a pinout printed on the case, with the coil pins labeled OPER (operate) and REL (release)
