Is there a way to find out what jack in office goes to what on a patch panel without using a tone generator?

The company i work for has no diagrams or Schematics related to the networking and i would like to diagram what the jack numbers are in each office. Doing so with a tone generator i imagine will take forever. Is there anyway else to accomplish this? Software? Hardware? Iam interested in documenting the number on the jack to the patch panel and possibly the number on the switch. Thanks for any help.

Really is no way around it, tone generator is your best bet. it’s better to take the time and do it right the first time then to try and figure it out later after it has already been labled incorrectly.

I can’t count how many times we had to call contractors back to relable the patch panel or the wall plates because the labled it wrong.
