pathophysiology help..?

i have a patient with a diagnosis of “hemothorax secondary to motor vehicular accident”. he has a chest tube draining bright red blood; some bruises on his shoulders, face, and head; and a NGT. the patient is stuporous and i am made to perform neuro vital signs every 2 hours.
i understand that chest trauma caused the accumulation of blood in the pleural space, thus the need for a CTT.
what is the reason for the presence of a NGT? is it because of esophageal trauma? or is it because of him being stuporous?
i am made to make a Schematic Diagram of the pathophysiology of the condition of my patient. i am still a student nurse and i do not have that much knowledge about this.. pls help.

ok. the ngt maybe used for feeding your patient. you said he had trauma.maybe the doctor prescribed the ngt for osteorised feeding. because your patient needs nutrition too. ngt was a precaution vs aspiration. maybe he has difficulty swallowing or the doctor doesn’t wanna risk aspiration pneumonia.
we just follow doctors order and actually. the doctors are the one that places the ngt not nurses. they are also the one placing the CTT.
head trauma is a very dangerous situation.that’s why you asses neurological status. what we call glaslow coma scale.
